K-food is a recipe site for people who want to cook Korean food wherever they live. We try to collect as little as possible. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, who helps us run the site, and how you can delete your data. Questions or requests: youngkk7102@gmail.com.
What we collect
Just by visiting
Our hosting provider (Vercel) receives your IP address and browser details in the normal way, as any website host does. We use the country that comes with your request to pre-select your country in the region picker; we do not store it. We do not run advertising or third-party analytics trackers at the moment.
Saved on your device
Your browser keeps a few small items so the site can remember you. They stay on your device and you can clear them any time:
- your chosen country;
- a random anonymous visitor ID (it lets you change your rating, edit or delete your own comments, and mark “I made this” without an account);
- your sign-in session, if you sign in.
Comments, ratings and “I made this”
No account is needed. If you comment we store the name you type (optional), your text, your anonymous visitor ID, and a salted hash of your IP address that is used only to limit spam. Ratings and “I made this” marks are stored with your visitor ID. Comments are public. The IP hashes are removed after 30 days.
Signing in
You can sign in with Google (through Supabase Authentication) to share your own version of a recipe. We receive your name, email address and profile picture URL from Google. Your email is used for your account only. Your name and picture are shown next to what you share.
Cooks’ versions
A version can include a photo you upload, the ingredients you swapped, how it turned out, and a short tip. We resize photos and store them. A version is shown publicly only after we approve it. Please only upload photos you took yourself.
The search box
When you type a sentence into “what do you want to cook tonight?” it is first read by simple rules in your browser. If those cannot understand it (for example because it is in another language), the sentence is sent to Google’s Gemini AI service to be turned into a structured request. We store the sentence with a salted IP hash so the same question can be answered again without another AI call and to limit abuse; these records are deleted after 30 days. Please do not type personal information into the search box.
Who helps us run the site
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Supabase stores our database, sign-in accounts and uploaded photos (the project is hosted in Seoul, South Korea).
- Google provides Google sign-in and the Gemini AI service used to read search sentences.
We do not sell your data. Some recipe pages link to shops such as Amazon; following those links is governed by their own policies.
How long we keep it
- Search sentences and IP hashes: 30 days.
- Comments, ratings and “I made this”: until you delete them or we remove them.
- Account, shared versions and photos: until you delete your account or ask us to.
Your choices
- Delete your own comment or shared version on the recipe page, using the Delete links next to it.
- Delete your whole account below if you are signed in.
- Clear your browser’s site data to remove the items saved on your device.
- Ask us to see, correct or delete anything we hold about you: youngkk7102@gmail.com.
Children
K-food is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Where your data is processed
Our providers may process data in several countries, including the United States and South Korea. By using the site you understand your information may be handled outside your own country.
